About Me
Hey there! 👋
I'm a backend developer who's been coding for about 20 years. Started out with a degree in Library Science, which turns out to be pretty useful when you're organizing code and data structures.
What I Do
I started my journey with Perl and Java back in the day, but now I mainly work with C#, Python, and Node.js. For a decade, I ran Debian Testing with IceWM as my daily driver – those were the days! Now I'm mostly stuck with Windows and really missing Linux, but making the best of it.
Tech & Privacy Stuff
I'm pretty passionate about digital privacy and decentralized social media. You'll find me on: – 🐘 Mastodon – 📸 Pixelfed – 🦋 BlueSky – 📚 BookWyrm – 💻 GitHub
I believe we need alternatives to the big corporate platforms, so I spend time helping build and improve these open networks.
Identity & Advocacy
I'm #aroace (#aromantic #asexual), which means I don't experience romantic or sexual attraction. It's just how I'm wired! I write about this sometimes to help others understand or figure themselves out.
Some quick facts about #asexuality and #aromanticism: – It's a spectrum with many experiences – Some aces might be cool with sex, others aren't – Some aros enjoy deep friendships and partnerships, just not romantic ones – Everyone's experience is different and valid
Creative Side
Photography
Love taking pictures of: – Birds in flight – Super close-up macro shots – City streets and people – Night skies and stars
Music & Books
- Heavy into metal and alt rock
- Big sci-fi fan (Asimov, Clarke, Bradbury)
- Love urban fantasy too
- The Neverending Story will always be special to me
Community & Work
I try to help out by: – Writing about tech – Sharing aroace experiences – Contributing to open source – Teaching photography basics – Supporting indie social networks
Let's Connect
If you're into any of this stuff – tech, photography, aroace topics, digital privacy, or just want to chat – you can find me on any of those decentralized platforms mentioned above. Always happy to meet people who share similar interests!
PS: Still learning and growing every day. There's always something new to discover in tech, photography, and life in general.
